The Afghan Embassy in Islamabad held a ceremony at the Centaurus Islamabad, Mövenpick Hotel on August 17 to mark the fifth anniversary of the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan. The event was attended by prominent Pakistani political leaders, including Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, and Allama Nasir Abbas Jaffry.
Speaking at the ceremony, Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb said that neighboring countries hold the “first and most important place” in Afghanistan’s foreign policy. He stressed that the Afghan government seeks good relations with all neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan.
Shakeeb also assured that Afghanistan would not allow its territory to be used against any other country. He said Kabul remains committed to maintaining peaceful relations with its neighbors and addressing bilateral concerns through cooperation.
Speaking at the event, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said Pakistan and Afghanistan should determine their future as two strong and peaceful neighboring states. He expressed confidence that both countries could support each other and maintain mutually beneficial relations.
Addressing ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, Fazlur Rehman said the existing difficulties could be resolved through dialogue, mutual understanding, communication, and discussion. He added that both sides have a desire to overcome their differences and resolve the issues affecting bilateral relations.
The ceremony provided an opportunity for Afghan and Pakistani political figures to emphasize the importance of peaceful relations, dialogue, and mutual cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
